The Department of Radiation Oncology at Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN invites applications for a postdoctoral research position in the Division of Medical Physics. Individuals with a strong interest in the application of computational tools, big data analysis and physics principles in radiation medicine are encouraged to apply.
This two-year fellowship offers individualized research opportunities in the area of machine learning as it applies to analysis and prediction of patient outcomes for radiation therapy and radiation dose distributions. The selected individual will join a dynamic and highly productive team and is expected to conduct research leading to peer-reviewed publications and presentations at national and international meetings under the guidance of our faculty. Opportunities to take classes which are a prerequisite for Medical Physics residencies will be offered.

Requirements Applicants should have a doctoral degree in Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering or a related field, with a proven background in data analysis and preferably in Machine Learning/Artificial Intelligence. They should have excellent quantitative, written, and verbal skills and evidence of research scholarship.
Facilities and Environment The Medical Physics Division currently has 19 Ph.D. faculty, 17 staff medical physicists, 9 medical physics residents, 4 postdoctoral fellows, engineers and IT support team members. The Radiation Oncology Department at Mayo Rochester is a large practice supporting all aspects of radiation therapy including proton therapy. Computer resources include a dedicated GPU research cluster and a strong institutional infrastructure. The Mayo Rochester campus is the flagship and central location for the radiation oncology practice.
