The Material Characterization Laboratory (MCL) at the York Center and Life Science and Engineering Research Center and Microfabrication Innovation Center (MIC) at the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) invites applications for multiple positions at their core facilities: 1) Associate Director of MCL and MIC, 2) Research Engineer for MIC and, 3) Bio-imaging and Spectroscopy Specialist at MCL. The MCL core facilities include extensive laboratories in Electron Microscopy, Optical Spectroscopy, and Chemical/Environmental Analysis (http://centers.njit.edu/york/index.php). The newly built MIC comprises of a Class 1000 clean room, photo lithography equipment, and a microfluidic facility. The associate director will oversee the day to day operations of MCL and MIC, and will interface with industry and academia to market MCL/MIC services to generate revenue. The research engineer will be responsible for running day to operations of the MIC. The imaging and spectroscopy specialist will oversee diverse instrumentation at the core laboratories including 2-photon microscopy, Micro-CT, Raman and IR microscopy; expertise in biological microscopy is critical.
Minimum qualifications are a MS degree for the associate director and Ph.D. for the research engineer and imaging specialist from accredited institutions in relevant field(s) such as chemistry, chemical engineering, physics, material science, electrical engineering or a closely related field. Pertinent experience in the respective field is important for each position. The successful candidates are expected to work with faculty, students and research staff to facilitate funded research, provide instrument training, and work with industrial clients to generate revenue.
