People are our strongest asset. Plummer is looking for a Design Innovation Practice Leader to join our leadership team. The Design Innovation Practice Leader will conduct work process analyses, work flows, and develop customized applications and tools to improve the productivity, efficiency, and work product quality of the design software and hardware. They will provide a seamless flow of data between offices and design staff.
Supervise the CAD Team by providing training, staffing assessment, enforcing Plummer CAD standards, and conducting performance evaluations
Analyze and continuously improve design processes: develop new design software applications, develop CAD standard and templates, evaluate internal data gathering processes, and ensure query and data manipulation access to engineering drawings and project databases
Coordinate with IT to ensure design systems and database reliability, accessibility, and integrity. Perform troubleshooting when necessary.
Recommend enhancements of computer-aided-drafting and design systems and evaluate/test new software and hardware
Evaluate storage and communication protocols to facilitate sharing between offices and sub consultants
Oversee technical support and perform daily maintenance of CAD databases
Focus short-term focus on addressing system issues. Long-term, the position may have up to 70-80% billable goal for AutoCad production
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
Solid understanding of design fundamentals related to the Team’s technical area of practice
Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills
Strong communication skills (writing, active listening, verbal and presenting)
Excellent time management skills
Ability to successfully problem solve and brainstorm innovative solutions
Education & Experience:
Bachelor of Science degree in engineering or Associates degree in CAD design or related field required
5+ years progressive experience in civil or related engineering drafting and design required
Management of Design/Drafting Team and/or experience supervising/coordinating the development of design work environment producing sets of design plans from 3-D models required
AutoCAD Certified Professional or equivalent highly preferred
Member of a local design software users’ group preferred
Location: Any Plummer office, location negotiable: Austin, Dallas, Fort Worth, San Antonio, Corpus Christi (Texas); Oklahoma City (Oklahoma); Denver or Durango (Colorado)
