We are seeking individuals to apply their talents in the areas of sensor analysis; phenomenology exploitation; detection; and target classification and identification. Areté has multiple position openings for entry-level to mid-level research scientists in our Tucson, AZ and Valparaiso, FL offices. At Areté, you will develop solutions critical to national security in the areas of remote sensing, signal processing, physics-based modeling and data analysis associated with active and passive sensors systems.
Conceive, design, prototype and implement advanced algorithms aimed at generating solutions to critical problems
Assess algorithm performance on real-world data from active/passive sensor systems and their interaction with the environment to improve algorithm performance
Interact with system and sensor designers to improve hardware
Engage customers and collaborators to provide technical results and recommendations
Document results via written reports, briefings and well-commented code
May support outdoor field tests with occasional travel
Additional duties as assigned
Required Qualifications & Experience:
Bachelor’s, Master’s or PhD degree in physical sciences, engineering, or mathematics with 0-8 years’ experience
Strong analytical skills demonstrated through in depth physics based modeling and data analysis
Understanding of optical systems, light propagation, and radiometry
Develop and apply electro-optic/imaging sensor models and simulations
Intellectual curiosity and high motivation to solve challenging problems
Experience in scientific programming using Python, Matlab, or similar languages
Excellent interpersonal communications, technical writing, and briefing skills
Agility to work multiple potentially disparate projects simultaneously
U.S. citizenship and ability to acquire a security clearance
Preferred Qualifications & Experience:
Remote sensing utilizing active/passive sensor systems including EO/IR, radar/SAR, and sonar/SAS
Experience processing and exploitation of raw data and application of machine learning algorithms or other techniques to classify targets/signatures
Multi-sensor data fusion for improved signal extraction/noise reduction
Artificial intelligence and deep learning; data analysis, statistical signal processing, spectroscopy, bioinformatics, natural language processing, and algorithm development
Experience in DIRSIG modeling
Experience in GPU CUDA programming
Current security clearance
