The Resident Engineer oversees, manages and coordinates construction activities of major capital projects.
RESIDENT ENGINEER ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIP
The Resident Engineer is the lead member of the staff of the Construction Manager. Resident Engineer interfaces with Assistant Resident Engineer, Office Engineer, Clerk technicians, and field inspectors internally and with the contractor staff, designer staff, utilities, city and county agencies externally.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Monitor Contractor progress against project schedule.
Negotiate settlement of changes and claims.
Coordinate outside agency support of contractor schedule.
Coordinate design support of construction.
Monitor Contractor Quality Control effort through daily inspections.
Oversee and coordinate staff functions.
Assign inspectors tasks.
Hold Weekly Coordination Meetings with Contractor.
Assure maintenance of Project Records, Files and “As-Built” Data.
Prepare and issue daily and weekly resident engineer’s reports.
Monitor and enforce Contractor Safety Program.
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Construction Management is a must, or equivalent experience in construction or related field, minimum of 15 years in field office environment.
Professional Engineer License required
Ability to direct and supervise support staff in the field office
Ability to read, analyze and write concise and accurate reports
Ability to communicate effectively, participate in verbal presentation and discussions
Experience in claims disposition and working knowledge of scheduling software
Ability to work with people in a cooperative environment
