You will serve as the Superintendent, Materials Science and Technology Division in the Materials Science and Component Technology Directorate of the Naval Research Laboratory.
You will be responsible for the conception, planning and formulation of the Division program in support of the military defense of the United States, particularly, the Naval Services. The mission of the Division is to conduct a broad program of basic research, applied research, development and innovation leading to advanced technologies and capabilities for the Navy, Marine Corps, DoD and other government agencies.
You will conceive, plan and formulate research efforts for new and advanced concepts and technology in materials science and technology in support of the military defense of the United States.
You will serve as a scientific and engineering consultant to the Department of the Navy, other departments of the Government, allied foreign governments and various other interested groups in matters which are under your purview.
You will be a recognized authority in materials science and technology, serve on various policy and planning boards, and you will contribute to the overall improvement of the integrated research process.
You will plan, guide and encourage the Division research efforts, including oversight of personnel, facilities, finances, safety, security, priorities, assignments, morale, discipline, etc.
You will oversee all budgetary matters for the Division using the working capital fund model.
