Rochester Public Utilities, a division of the City of Rochester, Minnesota (pop. 116,000+), is the largest municipal utility in the State of Minnesota and is accepting applications for the professional position of Senior Electrical Substation & Controls Engineer, who is responsible for supervising engineering and/or technical sections and developing budgets and schedules. This position also provides project management and technical assistance to utility operating sections, prepares electrical design and standards, and conducts studies related to system planning and operation. This position also assists in electrical work for the Water Utility. The primary emphasis of this position may include electric substations, electric transmission or electric distribution systems as necessary.
Education and Experience A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited four-year college or university and five (5) years of full-time employment experience in electrical utility infrastructure design, maintenance and construction.
Licenses and Certificates Certification as a Professional Engineer (PE) from the State of Minnesota within one year of hire as a condition of continued employment.
Valid driver's license
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS Experience with designing 15 kV through 161 kV substations; developing relay protection philosophies for 15 kV through 161 kV classes of equipment; and developing protective relay settings for microprocessor relays.
Additional Salary Information: Starting salary range $94,097 to $110,701, depending on qualifications, with advancement to $138,377.
