Engineering and Technology: Electrical, Physics: Applied
Physical Review Applied seeks an Assistant Editor
Physical Review Applied is a new member of the Physical Review family of journals with a focus on the technological outcomes and applications of physics research. We seek a dynamic and personable colleague for the position of Assistant Editor. The primary responsibility is to manage the peer review process and decide which papers meet the journal’s criteria and merit publication. This position also offers the opportunity to work collaboratively with the editors of Physical Review Materials. Editors stay engaged with the scientific community and abreast of the latest research by attending meetings and visiting research institutions around the world. In addition, editors may contribute to efforts by the Physical Review journals to publicize physics research beyond a pure physics audience. A PhD in physics, electrical engineering, materials science or a closely related field and postdoctoral research experience are required. We have a preference for someone with practical experience in and knowledge of applied science. An excellent command of written and spoken English is essential. We will train the new editor to develop needed editorial skills. The position is based at the editorial offices in Ridge, New York, on Long Island 60 miles east of Manhattan, near Brookhaven National Laboratory and Stony Brook University. The successful candidate will interact with ~40 editors of the other Physical Review journals based in the same office. We offer career stability with competitive salary and benefits to a qualified individual ready for a nontraditional career in physics. For general information about the American Physical Society and its journals, see http://www.aps.org.
