Position in Experimental Photonics
The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Rice University invites applications for a tenure track Assistant Professor position in the area of experimental photonics, broadly defined. Under exceptional circumstances, more experienced senior candidates may be considered. Specific areas of interest include, but are not limited to: active devices, metamaterials/metasurfaces, silicon photonics, quantum optics, novel optical materials, nanophotonics, laser science and applications, sensing, and imaging.
The department has a vibrant research program in novel, leading-edge research areas, has a strong culture of interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary research with great national and international visibility, and is ranked #1 nationally in faculty productivity. Several faculty have strong national and international collaborations, as well as collaborative relationships in the adjacent Texas Medical Center, the world’s largest medical center complex and home to a number of top-tier medical research institutions. With multiple faculty involved in the area of nanoscale optics and optoelectronics through the Laboratory for Nanophotonics (LANP), Rice ECE considers these areas as focal points of engineering research in the coming decade. The successful applicant will be required to teach undergraduate courses and build a successful research program.
